The passerby on the street stares in disbelief at the midnight sky. Never before have the stars seemed clearer to him. There is a strange glow in the air and an incredible feeling of happiness spreads through his chest, as if something wonderful is about to happen. It is July, sometime in the 20th century. One of those nights that are hardly able to cool down after a long hot day. And yet, the air is so pure, so fresh, breathing so easy, as if after a promise that everything would finally be okay. Shaking his head, the passerby continues. "What's wrong with me?"
Meanwhile, in the hospital, right next door, the maternity ward area is bustling. Wonderful little beings have been seeing the light of day all day. Some souls gain entry to this earth under highly dramatic circumstances, others embark on this journey smoothly, almost unseen. The staff has their hands full and is little aware of the extremely important mission of this work. Everyday life. Every day brings new earthlings and every day lets go of others. Life.
Finally, around midnight, it seems to get a little quieter. No new arrivals for quite some time. Only a foreign-looking dark-haired woman is in labor. An almost sublime serenity radiates from her, despite the obvious, considerable pain that reaches a new peak with each contraction. Meanwhile, the fascinating interplay of her facial expressions remains unseen. Otherwise, one would probably pause to observe the change from the birth-related distortion of pain on her face to a profound glow and infinite pride. The young woman feels and knows that something unique, great, is about to happen that would go far beyond the ordinary birth experience. Suddenly, as if magnetically attracted, the people present begin to move towards the hall where the birth of the young woman's first child is expected to take place promptly. Those who are authorized to enter the hall enter, the others remain in front of the entrance, not knowing why. Then, the world seems to stand still. An energy of great awe spreads. An infinite joy takes possession of the chest space of those present. Some sob and tears flow like little waterfalls down their faces. Others remain motionless in a feeling of bliss never experienced before. But why? It is shortly after midnight when quietly and almost smoothly the new citizen of the earth sees the light of day. It is a girl!
That night, an inexplicably peaceful atmosphere prevails in the hospital. For the period of those few hours, people meet with joy, goodwill and confidence in their hearts. All will be well, that is certain! The arrival of each soul touches and shakes the world in its own way. However, in rare cases - which, by the way, are becoming more and more frequent - this touch is so inconceivably deep that the collective of this earth is (unconsciously) seized. That's probably what happened on that fateful night.
